Poynter Sheep Farm

Poynter Sheep Farm is a small family flock owned and operated near Paris, Illinois by Jeff and Jan Poynter along with their son, Jared and wife Kara Poynter. Jeff is a retired vocational agriculture teacher and his wife, Jan, is a retired elementary education teacher. Both Jared and Kara teach high school agriculture in northern Illinois.

We currently raise Dorsets and Katahdins and practice line breeding on our ewes which allows them to really excel when bred to outside bloodlines. We are very proud of the accomplishments of our sheep and their success for many breeders throughout the country. If you are ever in east central Illinois, the Poynter family would graciously invite you into our home.

Grandpa Eugene started in 1934 with Shropshires and built one of the top flocks in Illinois.
